Lino Chioma , who was nomadic in his travels in the
Ontario Ball Hockey Ball Hockey Association, was an industrious two-way
player whose dedication and hardwork both on and off the floor led
to one of the most successful careers in the sport of ball hockey.
A player's player and one of the true aficionados of the game, Lino
toiled for 8 different teams in three leagues where he amassed over
300 points in 15 years of participation at the AAA level of competition.
Lino Chioma , pound for pound, was considered one
of the most physical players in the game. He was a perennial
league allstar who was the TBHA's Leading Scorer and League MVP in
1982 who captured league titles in the TBRA, Oshawa Ball Hockey League
and NWTBHL respectively. Lino celebrated a rare feat in ball hockey
as a member of the Toronto Midas Athletics in 1984 when he sipped
champagne from the Toronto, Ontario and Canadian Cup in the same year.
Lino Chioma was honoured by the NWTBHL in 1993 with
the Golden Jet Award for a lifetime of excellence in the sport of
ball hockey. Today, Lino, who has become homologous with the game,
coached Team Canada 1998 in Prague, Czech Republic to a bronze medal
and remains actively involved as a league and provincial executive
in the province of Ontario.
Lino Chioma is indeed one of the premier practitioners
in the history of "Orange Ball" who has earned his rightful place
in the OBHA Players Hall of Fame. |
