Mark Riffer expressed at Saturday's clinic that feedback would be appreciated, so I wanted to take him up on that request and let you and him, as well as Pat and Paul know that it was an excellent clinic. It's only my second, but the number of refinements and improvements that were made since last year was amazing; very pro-active!
It was fun, informative and productive. I have three pages of personal notes, along with the info that was handed out. I know that the information I derived from the clinic will genuinely help me in my efforts to enforce the new standard, and become a better ref.
I appreciate the insights that the senior officials shared with us, freely and unselfishly handing down tricks of the trade that have helped make them successful. I'm very interested in attempting to become eligible for Provincial, National and International officiating in the near future, and the knowledge imparted at the clinic will help make that a reality.
Thank you for making it such an enjoyable experience; what a great way to kick off a new season!!
Warmest regards,
Blake Miles
The Canadian Ball Hockey Association recently announced its roster for the inaugural U16 & U18 World Championships to be held in Zvolen, Slovakia in June 2008. Twenty-two players have been selected for each team and into these players' hands will fall the responsibility of capturing the World Championship.
"Build it and they will come!" Downsview Park did just that on Saturday, February 9, 2008 as they constructed sixteen temporary rinks on the park grounds to facilitate the largest event to date with one hundred and eight teams participating in support of Shoot For A Cure. The one-day winter festival included various activities, such as a silent auction, music and the day was highlighted with the celebrity challenge ball hockey game which had many NHL Alumni participating including Gary Leeman, Steve Thomas, Bill Derlago, and Ron Ellis.
