The Womens Pre Season Tournament was another great weekend for the sport as eighteen teams competed for the championship at the A and B level of competition in Mississauga and perhaps a sneak preview for the Provincial Championships later this summer.
There was very little separating all the teams as this was the most balanced tournament in years and it was any teams tournament to win.
In the Womens A class, Toronto Womens Ball Hockey League showed they have the two best club teams in the province as the Royals out lasted the Toronto Orange Crush en route to 3-1 victory. The Royals were lead up front by Lotoya Clarke and Ashley Stephenson who seemed to dominate every shift and on the defence by Michelle Bonello and Katie Passfield in goal who only gave up three goals in the five games.
In semi-final action, it was the Royals scored early and often with a victory over the Bling from Burlington, while the Crush defeated the White Lightening from Vanier in a hard fought 1-0 victory.
In Womens B division, the excitement of the round robin would continue to the quarter final round with Bling winning over the Bulldogs from Beeton 1-0 after the teams battled to a 0-0 tie only to have Bling score the winning goal on the eleventh player in the shootout. In other quarter final action, the Shamrocks upended the Allstars from Peterborough 4-1, the Pink Panthers beat the T.B.A. from Beeton 5 to 1 and in our second shoot out game of the night the Snipers outlasted the Spirit from Brampton 1-0.
In semi final action, Bling battled the feisty Snipers to a 7-2 win and the Shamrocks won 6-2 over the Pink Panthers from Vanier. The final would see the Shamrocks capture the B Championship with a 3-0 victory over the Bling.

And to the victors go the spoils! The presentation of the championship trophy, championship and all star awards, have become synonymous with OBHA supremacy. It is an accomplishment and one of the most sought after collection of trinkets in sports today.
