Paul played in the Beeton Ball Hockey league since 2001 and during that time endeared himself to everyone whom he played with. He was the consummate team mate, a fierce competitor and a friend both on and off the floor. Always selfless in his play and demeanour, Paul played at an elite level, competing with the Xtreme team at the Provincial and National levels. He travelled to the Mens Nationals in Calgary in 2005 (as an 18 year old and the youngest player in the tournament) and then again to Saint John, NB in 2007. He also helped lead the Xtreme Junior team to a Bronze Medal in the 2006 Nationals.
