On Saturday, February 12, 2011, Downsview Park hosted their 7th annual 3 on 3 Ball Hockey Tournament which had one hundred and six teams competing in nine divisions of play. The event is held every year on Hockey Day in Canada.

Sixteen temporary rinks were built on the park grounds to facilitate the event in support of Shoot For A Cure. The one-day winter festival included various activities, such as a silent auction, music and a celebrity ball hockey game.

The best part of ball hockey, you don't need a uniform to have fun, just a stick, a ball and a pair of sneakers. Every team in the event is guaranteed three games and the opportunity to advance to the elimination round leading to the championship final at each respective division. Teams play three-on-three with a maximum of three substitutes. There's no body checking and no slap shots. The penalties are automatic penalty shots which offer some dynamic moments to each game.

We would like to congratulate all of the administrators, officials, coaches, players and fans that participated in the tournament and helped to make the event a resounding success in support of such a worthwhile cause.
