OBHA Participates at the GTHL 100th Anniversary Celebrations

For the first time ever hundreds of GTHL REP teams and thousands of players, parents and fans kicked off the season at one weekend and the OBHA provided the portable rink and information booth for the kids to enjoy during the FANFEST.

The Greater Toronto Hockey League was founded in 1911 is a non-profit organization and is the largest amateur minor hockey league in the World. There are over 40,000 participants registered annually in the GTHL. GTHL jurisdiction spans Toronto, North York, Scarborough, Vaughan, and Markham and includes players ranging from the ages of 4-20.

The GTHL hosted 129 games over the three day-long event which was highlighted with the naming of the All Star Team of the Century. Thousands of people voted online to determine the top 6 players from an extensive list of GTHL graduates. The team includes Ken Dryden (goalie), Brad Park (defenseman), Paul Coffey (defenseman), Mike Gartner (forward), Eric Lindros (forward), and Brendan Shanahan (forward).

Teams from the following AAA, AA, & A programs (Amesbury Attack, Downsview Beavers, Duffield Devils, East Ender Ticats, Etobicoke Canucks, Goulding Park Rangers, Hillcrest Canadiens, Humber Valley Sharks, Humberview Huskies, ice Warriors, Jr, Canadiens, Leaside, Flames, Leaside Kings, Markham Islanders, Markham Majors, Mississauga Jets, Mississauga Rebels, Mississauga Reps, Mississauga Senators, Mississauga Terriers, North Toronto, North York Knights, North York Rangers, Scarborough Ice Raiders, Scarborough Yong Bruins, Streetsville Tigers, Ted Reeve Thunder, Toronto Aces, Toronto Aeros, Toronto Avalanche, Toronto City Blues, Toronto Colts, Toronto Eagles, Toronto Ice Dogs, Toronto Marlboros, Toronto Penguins, Toronto Red Wings, Toronto Royals, Toronto Titans, Toronto Yong Nationals, Vaughan Kings, Vaughan Panthers, Vaughan Rangers, West Hill Golden Hawks, West Mall Lightningm York Toros and Young Nationals.
