For over two decades, the Burlington Ball Hockey League has been providing Burlington residents with a summer alternative to winter's favorite sport and this year marks their 25th anniversary.

At its inception in 1987, the Burlington Ball Hockey League was just a one-division league with ten men's teams. Over the past 25 years they have grown to offer three separate divisions, plus a women's divisions.

"The growth of ball hockey in this area over the past 25 years has been huge, especially for all ages from kids to adults. Ten years ago, we didn't have a women's division and to go from just ten men's teams to 34 in total, not to mention our Youth League the Halton Minor Ball Hockey League who is now in its 7th year to go from 4 teams to 42 is a great achievement for us and the sport of Ball Hockey" said Denis Archambault, president of the BBHL and HMBHL

Archambault credits part of this growth to a partnership between the league and Burlington Lions Optimist Minor Hockey Association and having the opportunity to offer the great sport of Ball Hockey to the parents and being able to support our local businesses in sponsorships.
