Two OBHA Alumni selected for the 2012 Women’s Hockey Canada

Hockey Canada announced Sunday the 23 players selected for Canada’s National Women’s Team during the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship, taking place April 7-14 in Burlington, Vt.

The announcement comes at the conclusion of Canada’s National Women’s Team selection camp, which ran March 26-31 in Ottawa and includes two OBHA alumni.

Jennifer Wakefield and Natalie Spooner will be two of Canada’s forwards at the World Championships. Both are products of the storied Oshawa Ball Hockey League and the top girls and women’s team in the province, Oshawa Stampede and country.

Spooner and Wakefield have both enjoyed success in Canada’s Under 22 program and won gold at the 2010 Four Nations Cup.
